Do the duck rubber duck duck rubber duck

It's been well-established around here that Charlotte loves the hell out of Sesame Street. In fact, it's all she watched up until recently when she developed a deep devotion to Curious George and Clifford the Big Red Dog.

"Recently" meaning the past 8 weeks since I've been home post complicated c-section and have had the TV on basically...round the clock.

But anyway, all that TV means watching a LOT of Sesame Street. To the point where Mr. P and I find ourselves with favorite episodes. And favorite vignettes within said episodes. Our most recent favorite is the American Fruit Stand episode (it rules) but by far, BY FAR, our new favorite song is this jacked up 2007 version of "Rubber Ducky" - it has a reggae sound and holy shit it's the most mental thing I've seen in a long time.

And go ahead and watch it but don't come bitching to me when the song gets stuck in your head and you find yourself driving along singing it to yourself. Or while you're showering. Or while you're cooking dinner. Or while you're changing the baby. And by YOU'RE I obviously mean "I'M."

Do the duck, rubber duck, duck rubber duck, rubber duck, rubber duck...

When my older two were at craft time this morning, Moe wanted to watch TV. We were flipping through the channels and came across Seaseme Street. Moe looks at me and says "That's Elmo, that's for babies". Um yeah, spoken with all of her three year old authority. Apparently she's been hanging around her sisters too much!

I am WELL past the Sesame Street age but I do remember loving it and even was willing to watch the same episode twice in one day. I used to one it in the morning before preschool and then I would make my Dad watch it with me later in the day when he got home. Anyway, did you by chance catch the episode with Feist singing "1, 2, 3, 4" adapted for Sesame Street? I ran across it one of my blogs this week. Here is a link to youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJSEHouoHK0&feature=related

Sesame Street is the best!!! I loved it when they had The Dixie Chicks on....talk about getting a song stuck in your head!!! When the baby gets to be @ two you should definately take the kids to Sesame Place. My kids are 6 & 8 and still love it!!

Well, I don't know about you, but I much prefer the reggae Rubber Ducky song to the godawful "If Elmo Had a Dinosaur" that has been stuck in my head since last weekend.

TCP - hahahahaha - oh my god, that one is the WORST. We saw that episode a few weeks ago. It stays with you forever.

I love that rubber duck song too!

Have you seen the Law and Order vignette? That was hysterical too. Andy hates Sesame Street now, and I miss it!

I've been watching a lot of Sesame Street with my daughter recently too. My absolute favourite has been James Blunt singing "My triangle" to "You're beautiful." Hilarious! Andrea Bocelli telling Elmo it was "Time to go to sleep" with opera was awesome too.

My kids are big fans of this as well -- Sesame comes on right before we leave for preschool in the morning and I dread when this song comes on. It is the ONLY thing I hear from the back seat and then I'm stuck singing it all the way to work...

To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure who enjoys SS more, myself or the MH! And DH enjoys himself some SS on weekends too (and of course we've got some kick ass DVDs as well - my personal fave being the 25th anniversary celebration). We love Do the Rubber Duck and another fave (my dad loves to sing this to MH) is Put Down the Ducky. I'm also a big fan of Norah Jones doing Don't Know Why (9 didn't come), and the oldie but goodie Goo Goo Dolls rendition of Pride. There are just too many great ones to list. Just today I heard MH singing to herself in her room (making up her own words of course) and realized she was singing "Count Me In" which is part of some vignette. I think SS is the one children's show that is clearly well written for both the kiddies AND the parents to love. And that's saying a lot!
