November 9 - chili and a meme

I made the BEST chili for dinner tonight. I was poking around online for a "different" chili recipe, but couldn't find one I really liked. So at the grocery store this morning, I just kind of winged it. I bought ground sirloin, a bunch of beans, Old El Paso seasoning and diced green chilis and I figured I'd just throw a bunch of things together to see what happened.

Well, what happened was that it came out AWESOME. In case you're interested, here's the recipe:

What you need:
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 lb. 90% lean ground beef
- 1 pkg. pre-cooked cilantro chicken sausage, sliced
- Old El Paso taco seasoning
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 can Goya dark kidney beans
- 1 HUGE can Goya black beans
- 1 can Goya chopped green chilis
- sprinkle of Goya adobo seasoning
(as you can probably tell, I am a huge fan of all things Goya)
- sprinkle of red pepper flakes
- sprinkle of chili powder
- 1 T brown sugar

What you do:
Heat a teaspoon of olive oil in a cast iron pot over medium-high heat. Add chopped onion, cook until translucent. Add ground beef, cook til brown. Add package of seasoning, sliced sausage, tomatoes, beans & chilis - stir until combined. Sprinkle adobo, red pepper flakes & chili powder to taste. Stir. Add brown sugar, stir well. Heat until bubbling, then simmer as long as you like.

I served this over a scoop of white rice and it was delicious. Perfect for watching football.

And for those of you who don't like recipes, here's a meme. Enjoy! I found this on my girl Melissa's blog. Have at it.

1. Who is your man? The illustrious Mr. P

2. How long have you been together? Almost 6 years.

3. How long did you date? Um, until we got engaged? 1 year exactly. He proposed on our 1 year dating anniversary.

4. How old is your man? 34.

5. Who eats more? He does.

6. Who said "I love you" first? He did.

7. Who is taller? He is - by about 9 or 10 inches.

8. Who sings better? Me.

9. Who is smarter? I think we're equally smart in very different ways.

10. Whose temper is worse? Oh god, mine.

11. Who does the laundry? I do.

12. Who takes out the garbage? He does, usually. But if it's full I'm not waiting around for him to get home just to take out the trash. I have two kids in diapers - stinky diapers - you feel me?

13. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? He does.

14. Who pays the bills? I do the actual PAYING but if you mean who makes the money to pay the bills then that would definitely not be me.

15. Who is better with the computer? I'll say him for this one.

16. Who mows the lawn? A nice guy named Carlos.

17. Who cooks dinner? I do.

18. Who drives when you are together? I do. He drives like a lunatic.

19. Who pays when you go out? Like on dates, he does. But when we just go out to grab coffee or bagels with the kids, I do.

20. Who is most stubborn? Oh god, me again. By a LONG shot.

21. Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? I'm sure you'll be surprised to learn that it's not me.

22. Whose parents do you see the most? Mine. His live in Seattle.

23. Who kissed who first? He kissed me first on our 3rd date. How traditional.

24. Who asked who out? He asked first.

25. Who proposed? He did.

26. Who is more sensitive? Crapshoot, neither of us are especially sensitive. I am overly dramatic, though.

27. Who has more friends? I do, though he has more friends from way back than I do.

28. Who has more siblings? I do.

29. Who wears the pants in the family? I like to say we each have one leg in the pants. It's a 2-party dictatorship chez Ladybug.

Happy Monday!
Oh! And that zebra cardigan that I wore last week is from NY and Company. I couldn't find it on the website when I checked, but they might have it in store. I call it my Cougar Cardigan, something about it reminds me of something a Cougar would wear. don't ask me why, but I LOVE it! I'll keep my eyes out for a zebra cardigan for you!
